The Tengraxi

The Tengraxi are a race of beings who live in some sense below our universe. While it's unclear how they got there and how (more recently) they got back to our universe, it is quite clear that they have a grudge against The Universe Above. However, nobody knows what their grudge is, why they hold it, and what they want; so far their jet-black planetoid-shaped ships have sat silently in space, ignoring all attempts at communication. It has therefore been decided to send out a probe to determine just how much of a threat or an opportunity these mysterious beings really are.
